New and exciting EHS classes you’ll want to register for

The registration deadline for next year is fast approaching! If you’re looking for a way to fill your schedule just for some fun classes to take we have you covered. Below you will find a list of classes that are either new or just unique! You can find many more exciting classes on your registration packet or online!

English/ Lang Courses: 

 

  • Mythology: This class is a Literature Elective available for 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students. In this class, students will learn about the nature of myths and how they developed. Greek mythology will be read, presented, and written in this class! It will also be offered as an online class in addition to a normal class.
  •  Science Fiction & Fantasy: In this class, students will read not only classic Sci-FI and Fantasy literature but also contemporary works. This class will connect these fantasy universes to our reality and our possible futures. This class will be offered to 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students.
  • Multicultural Literature and Contemporary Ideas: This class will cover issues on the topic of struggles and lifestyles of Americans. the class will cover topics prevalent to the issues we are facing today in literature from as well as film. This class is only available to 12th-grade students.

Family and Consumer Sciences

  • Exploring Relationships: Exploring Relationships will cover how to maintain healthy personal relationships and their responsibilities. This course also covers issues like rape, abuse, and divorce. Students will be faced with problems and will have to figure out a healthy solution. This class is offered to 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.
  • Life 101: This class will cover how to handle finances after high school. You will learn how to budget, lease or buy a car and apartment, how to deal with identity theft, and much more. This course is offered to 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students.

Physical Education Courses:

  • S. P. A. R. Q. Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction, Quickness: This course will cover many different types of workouts along with how to use the equipment. This class will be a block period offered before 1st hour and will meet every other day. It is offered to 11th and 12th graders.
  • Stress Management: This class will teach you how to handle your stress and will develop ways to deal with and manage your stress in healthy ways. This course is offered to 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.

Science Courses: 

  • Biology of MN: This course will cover the local environment, its ecology, and what organisms live in it. This is a year-long course and topics will be divided by trimester. This is offered to 11th and 12th graders.
  • Field Geology: This class will give students an introduction to the physical world. Labs and field trips will be done in this class. This class is offered to 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.

Social Studies: 

  • World Philosophy: This class is only offered in odd years so sign up! This class will use a seminar discussion way to discuss ideas of the great thinkers of history. This course is offered to 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students.
  • Women in the World: Yesterday and today: This course will cover these major topics all around the topic of women’s studies. This course will talk about diversity, stereotypes, political roles, and more. This course is available to 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.
  • True North: Leadership is the topic of this class. The art of leadership and the self-discovery of leadership will be taught in this course. This class is offered to 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students.

Technology & Engineering Courses:

  • Sports Equipment: This class will cover how to build your own sports equipment using non-traditional technology. You will learn to build the equipment of your choice. This class is offered to 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. To take this course you will have to have taken Intro to Woods.
  • Small Engines: This class will cover the basics of small gas engines and their designs. You will tear down engines and learn how to rebuild them. This class is offered to 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.
