School is session again after a lovely winter break, and the return from break usually leads to sickness. With many illnesses (and the flu since flu season has begun) traveling through our student body, it is important to help stop the spread of germs and try your best to stay happy and healthy. According to the CDC, here are some preventative measures we can take while in or out of school to help stop the flu season from being worse than it needs to be.
- Avoid contact with people who are sick, and distance yourself from others when you feel ill.
- Stay home when you feel sick because this helps stop the spread of your illness to others.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a Kleenex when sneezing or coughing because the flu spreads through droplets made when people who have the flu sneeze or cough.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water or an alcohol based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, or nose because your hands may be contaminated by germs.
- Use other good health habits, such as cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, exercising, getting sleep, managing stress, eating healthy foods, and drinking lots of fluids.
