Eagan’s Hour of Code
January 11, 2016
Eagan High participated for the second year in the Hour of Code during the week of December 7-13th. Kids in fourteen geometry classes participated with 200 million students worldwide. The Hour of Code is a one hour introduction to the basics of coding.
“The whole goal of the program to entice kids to look in the field of computer science,” says Mrs. Braun, a computer science and geometry teacher here at Eagan High School. It is estimated that in the next ten years there is going to be a shortage of one million programmers, preventing our technology from advancing as it is expected to. The objective of the Hour of Code is to attract kids who would have never considered going into a programming career through the use of fun activities and games.
This program is organized by Code.com, a worldwide non-profit organization. For more information you can go to https://hourofcode.com/us.
