Homecoming spirit week is upon us. From dress up days to sports to an unnatural amount of events for one high school, here’s a round up of this week’s events.
🌈Monday 🌈
Kicking things off on Monday with the first dress up theme: monochrome. On this spirit day, any colored outfit from bright green to dark magenta will fit in the dress code, as long as every article of clothing head to toe matches. Anything in your closet will work.
Check out the booths in the lunch room Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to get more information on many of the clubs and teams available. The newspaper booth is today – come check it out!
Rock paper scissors regionals will also be held, the champions of several different PAWS classes going at it on Live Eagan AM. Rock beats scissors, paper beats rock, and scissors cut to the variety of sports happening Monday night.
The boys Varsity Soccer Team will be facing Eastview at home at 5pm in Wildcat Stadium. They will be followed by the girls Varsity Soccer Team who are going against Eastview at 7pm. Girls Varsity Volleyball will be facing the Eastview Lightning in the gym at 7pm. Good luck teams and let’s show school spirit by attending.
🗺️🦁Tuesday👔
In a cheeky nod to browser app preference comes Tuesday’s spirit dress code: Office vs. Safari. Suits, ties, and work dresses get to face off against wide brimmed hats, sunglasses, sturdy boots, and beige fabrics.
The Varsity Girls Tennis team has Team Section Quarters on Tuesday at 3:30. They will be taking place at the tennis courts in Northview Park. Show up and cheer them on.
The Homecoming Girls Flag Football tournament will be taking place on Tuesday in Wildcat Stadium at 7pm. Girls signed up earlier this month to get on to the teams organized by grade level. The teams face off against each other in a highly anticipated tournament. The Seniors are the reigning champions. Come cheer on the teams to see if they are dethroned.
⭐️Wednesday⭐️
“My name is Adam Sandler. I’m not particularly talented. I’m not particularly good-looking. And yet I’m a multi-millionaire.” -Adam Sandler.
That’s right, on Wednesday morning, the fashion spirit of Adam Sandler is coming to our school. Baggy pants, baggy shirts, baggy back packs, baggy shoes, baggy everything. A baseball cap will tie up your look excellently, but make sure it’s facing the wrong way.
There are many sporting events happening on Wednesday, and all of them are in Apple Valley. Varsity Girls Soccer is played at 5pm, Varsity Boys Soccer plays at 7pm, and Varsity girls Volleyball plays at 7pm.
🪩Thursday 🪩
Remember that trend decades ago that went out of style? It’s back for Throwback Thursday. Choose the 70s, 80s, 2000s, or 1560s for school dress that day. Wear a wig, wear low rise jeans (but not too low), wear a costume reminiscent of a Roman gladiator, if its a throwback you’re good. Check out Goodwill, Savers, eBay, Amazon, your old Halloween costumes, your mom’s 40-year-old off-the-shoulder neon shirt for inspiration.
The sports hype continues on Thursday with a Varsity and Junior Varsity Cross Country meet in Owatonna Invitational. The girls swim team also has hits the water at Rosemount, and the Varsity girls Tennis team has Team Section Quarters at the tennis courts in Northview Park at 3:30. Good luck to our runners, swimmers, and tennis players.
Head back to the Main Gym at EHS by 6 pm for the annual Dodgeball tournament at 6 pm will be held in the Main Gym.
🔥Friday🔥
The dress up day for Friday is Eagan Out. Wear all of your Eagan gear for school spirit. Make sure to go all out for the Pep Fest.
EHS celebrates its annual Rock-Paper-Scissors Tournament finals at 1:50pm during the pep fest. The Cheer Team and the Dance Team will be performing at the Pep Fest, with help from the Varsity Pep band. But it wouldn’t be a HOCO pep fest without the special guest performance: the dancing football team.
The Homecoming Football game itself starts at 7pm in Wildcat Stadium, with performances from the Cheer Team, Dance Team, and the Varsity Marching Band. This years’ difference makers will also be introduced during the game.
🎉Saturday🎉
Lights, DJ, pictures. The biggest event of HOCO week, the Homecoming dance will take place in the gym from 7:30-10:30. Get ready with friends then meet at the East entrance of EHS. Any and all bags will be checked so make sure you leave anything you don’t want out of your sight at home. The dress code is semi-formal- cute dresses, sequins, ties, and comfy shoes galore. Remember to bring your student ID and your ticket, you need both to get in. There will be lots of dancing, music, and fun.
Monday
Last stop on our homecoming spirit trip, remember to wear your comfiest pjs for pajama day. Nobody wants to get out of bed on a Monday anyway, so show school spirit and be as lazy as possible with your dress.
