November Artist of the Month: Hannah Borntrager
November 21, 2016
Hannah Borntrager, a senior, is a talented and passionate artist at EHS. She is a member of the National Art Honors Society and is currently taking AP Portfolio.
Although she enjoys many different types of art, Borntrager enjoys sketching the most. She says, “My favorite medium is pencil and paper, and when I’m using that [pencil and paper], I’d describe my art as realistic, while in painting I tend to lean towards impressionist pieces.” She also posts many speed drawings on her Instagram.
One of her biggest influences is M. C. Escher. She says, “M. C. Escher has been one of my favorite artists since I was really young. I have books of his works. I always looked up to his incredibly realistic style and also his stylized patterns. They’ve motivated me to continue to learn how to draw realistically and inspired me to be more creative in my work, like he was, with many of his works being incredibly surreal.”
Borntrager plans on using art in her future, as she would like to become either an art teacher or go into art therapy.
