What to do this winter break

During the holiday season, Minnesota is filled with many festive activities throughout the state. With winter break soon approaching, here is a list of activities that you and your family or friends can visit during the holiday season. These are just a few of the many events happening in the metro area this holiday season.

Holidazzle
Holidazzle goes through the 22nd of December and is located in Loring Park, Minneapolis. Holidazzle has special events happening every day like concerts, movies, fireworks, and ice rink. Holidazzle is a great place to take pictures with the extraordinary backdrop and is free to the public and enjoy time outdoors in the city.

Winter Bloom at Minnesota Landscape Arboretum
This massive light display which is located at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum runs through January 5th and is opened Fridays and on weekends. Shuttles are running to the Arboretum every weekend. Non-members who are 16 and older will have to pay $15 for a ticket, but members and ages 15 and younger get in for free.

Gingerbread Wonderland
The Norway House in Minneapolis creates a whole new world made out of gingerbread. Landmarks and famous tourist destinations made by gingerbread will be on display in the Norway house until January 5th. You can even bake your own gingerbread house and put it on display. No experience is required and tickets are $5. The Gingerbread Wonderland is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Wells Fargo Winter Skate
An ice rink has been put outside of the Landmark Center in St. Paul. The rink will be around until February and is free if you have your own skates, otherwise, you can rent skates for $5. However, make sure if you’re under 17 you get the waiver signed before you visit.

Como Park Holiday FLower show
The Conservatory in the Como Zoo shows hundreds of beautiful holiday flowers on display. This display runs through early January and is free to the public. The Marjorie McNeely Conservatory is located in St. Paul at the Como Zoo.

New Years Eve Sledding
Hyland Lake Park Reserve in Bloomington is a great place for skiing, and on New Year’s Eve from 12 pm- 4 pm, hot cocoa is on them. Admission is free and remember to bring blankets and sleds.
