As the school year continues moving along, more and more clubs are having their kick-off meetings. French club will be having it’s first meeting October 21st in Lecture Room C.

“People should join because it’s an extra chance to do things they wouldn’t get to do in their language class.

There’s extra credit opportunities, food and you get to hang out with your friends.

.” Said French teacher and French club advisor, Ms. Hubbard.

There are several meetings throughout the school year. In December, to celebrate the holidays, French Club will have it’s annual holiday party. At the party there will be plenty of the French holiday pastry,Bûche de Noël, to go around.

There will be numerous meetings following that including the annual New Year’s party. Which of course will have a Galette des Rois. A Galette des Rois is a french cake served at New Years. Every year little trinkets are hidden inside the cake and whoever finds it will not only have good luck and prosperity for the next year but, they will also be “king” or “queen” for the remainder of the evening.

Following that is the annual Mardi Gras party which is notorious for it’s “create-your-own crèpes” bar. There is also an unannounced field trip in the spring along with a movie/pizza day.

“This year for our kick-off meeting we’re going to try something new with a school wide scavenger hunt” added Ms. Hubbard. Whether you want to learn more about French culture, hang out with your friends, eat delicious food or even all of the above, it’s never too late to join French Club.

There is a $12 one-time fee that goes towards all of the food served at the meetings throughout the year. If you write a check, make it out to “EHS French Club.” Meeting locations will be announced in the daily announcements as they come closer. If you have any questions see Ms. Deyo or Ms. Hubbard.
