Every year, the band department hosts an exciting event: the Carnival Concert. This event includes a plethora of activities and musical talent. “Our students put together a Musical Carnival with various carnival games that each have a musical element or spin,” Mr. Pearson, one of the band directors, told me. “Kids can collect tickets and win prizes and we also have pizza and T-Rex cookies for sale too.”

After the games are played, everyone heads into the auditorium for a performance of lively music. The main audience of this event is fifth-grade students, as the band department wants to get them excited about pursuing music in middle school and high school. However, Mr. Pearson stated that they “love seeing kids of all ages, middle school students, and families!” The overall goal is to increase engagement with music– in the most fun, carnivalesque way possible.

We are hoping for an exciting night of games, music, and food for this year’s Carnival Concert, happening on Tuesday, January 23. If you know any fifth graders or music lovers, make sure to let them know about this event!
