Boys’ Tennis Looks to Improve

The Boys’ Tennis team finished last year with a record of 10 wins and 8 losses, and return this season with a lot of talent and a lot of promise. Senior captains Zach Ekstein and Andrew Cairns will anchor the team and lead the way for a run at the State tournament this year. Last year, the team lost in the section final to Bloomington Jefferson, but Ekstein went to State individually, losing only to the eventual state champion in the quarterfinals. Ekstein returns as an All-Conference, All-State, and team MVP performer.

The Wildcats’ biggest strength this year should be their experience. The boys’ return six out of their fourteen players and so they are looking to use that experience on a run to state. The Wildcats also have a strong singles lineup as three of the four singles players return. When asked what he’s most excited about for this upcoming year, Ekstein said, “I’m excited to see what the season will bring and see all the fresh new faces and meet the new people on the team.” Similarly, Andrew Cairns said, “I’m most excited about winning sections and making it to State!” The first match on the road to state for Eagan is the Park Invite at Park High School on April 5th.
