Yogurt Beach is the newest store close enough to walk to from Eagan High School. Before its summer opening, the best midafternoon snack place for EHS students was Rita’s Italian Ice and whatever was on the shelves at Cub. But now there’s competition. Is the new froyo (frozen yogurt) place worth it?
The first thing I noticed when walking into Yogurt Beach was the island decor. With tables shaped like surfboards, a tall palm tree in the back, and a grass roof above the ‘toppings’ wall, it felt like stepping into Hawaii.
The soundtrack playing when I visited took me straight back to the 2010s, featuring several hit songs from High School Musical and Teen Beach Movie that were nostalgic and fitting for the vibe. Needless to say, the atmosphere was enjoyable.
However, the most interesting part of Yogurt Beach–by far–was the frozen yogurt.
You pay by the pound, so the amount of toppings and frozen yogurt flavors you choose is practically unlimited. The back wall has soft-serve options ranging from classic chocolate to dragon fruit and watermelon. Pull the lever (careful–it comes out fast!) and watch the swirl fill your cup.
After getting the soft serve, the next (and best) part of the experience is the toppings. They’re spread throughout a cart and a wall of containers, with choices ranging from fruity to salty to sweet.

My sister and I got froyo, but we had very different experiences. I chose my usual chocolate and added strawberries, cookie dough, brownie bites, and caramel pieces. It was delicious in every sense of the word. The freedom to choose exactly what I wanted made it even better.

But that same freedom is what sabotaged my sister. She came in determined to try anything that looked even remotely good. She ended up with a mix of cookie monster, cookies and cream, and triple chocolate froyo topped with bubble beads, Sour Patch Kids, cookie dough, fudge sauce, cherries, and gummy worms. In her words: “It’s kind of weird.”

Despite the weirdness, she ate the whole thing, and I ate as much of mine as I could. Neither of us regrets it.
When the cashier and junior at EHS, Emma Cubas, was asked about her favorite flavor, she said, “I really like Vanilla. It’s basic, but I really like vanilla.”
Though we went on a Monday night and the shop was practically empty, some days get especially busy. “It’s definitely busier on Fridays and Saturdays late at night. My closing shift is busier because we’re open later,” said Cubas.
In conclusion, yes–you should go to Yogurt Beach. With its variety, strong theme, and fun atmosphere, it’s likely to stick around. Just be careful what you mix together.
