img-2While driving through Eagan, you may notice a new grocery store that just opened on September 11th: Hy-Vee. There are three other Hy-Vee stores near the Twin Cities areaLakeville, Oakdale, New Hope, and Brooklyn Park—that opened in the past year. The nearly 100,000 square-foot Hy-Vee in Eagan is located west of Interstate 35E, near Yankee Doodle and Pilot Knob Road.

First established by Charles Hyde and David Vredenburg in 1930 in Beaconsfield, img-3Iowa, Hy-Vee is known for its excellent service and reasonable prices. There are more than 240 Hy-Vee stores across the Midwest, including stores in Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin. An employee-owned company, Hy-Vee currently employs more than 82,000 people, all of whom help guide the company.

It took almost 20 million dollars to build, supply, and stock the new store, offering more than ten distinctive departments such as a Salad Bar, Cocina Mexicana, Juice and Smoothie Bar, Italian Express, bakery, floral shop, and a clothing store. The Hy-Vee in Eagan carries approximately 63,000 items and employs 735 people, and also includes a Starbucks and a restaurant.
