Finding a Location for Homecoming Pictures in the Rain

Early forecasts are predicting scattered showers for Saturday, October 14th, so many Wildcats will be in search of sheltered locations to take their homecoming photos.

Fortunately, a couple students who dealt with rain for previous school dances let us in on some of their favorite rain-friendly photo locations. Senior Emma Anderson and her group chose the Minnesota State Capitol for their prom group photos. While she cautions party-goers to get dropped off at the capitol to avoid tricky parking, she also notes that “we were actually able to go on to the Senate and House floors and take pictures in there, which is not an experience you get to have every day.”

Another senior, Eisley Nkwonta, took his prom group photos at the Minnesota History Center. Eisley explains, “It was pretty well lit, so the pictures turned out fine,” and the building had enough space for his 40-person group.

Both Anderson and Nkwonta said the locations were not crowded. However, they were a bit of a drive from the school. Other popular sheltered locations include the Saint Paul Hotel, the interior of the Eagan Community Center, the Union Depot, and the Guthrie Theater.
