Windels wins contest for Super Bowl tickets

Staff Report

Senior Natalie Windels and Mr. Graham won tickets to the Super Bowl from the “Team Up to Achieve with Randy Moss” contest. The award was given on Friday, January 25 by Erin Moran of the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee as well as Jeff Fallon and Bruce Locklear of Jostens.

“[Mr. Graham] didn’t even know I wrote about him. I didn’t think I’d win,” said Windels after the presentation.

Neither Windels or Graham knew that Windels’ entry had won until the live Eagan AM shot on Friday morning. “I thought I was reporting in to watch Natalie get another award,” said Mr. Graham. Besides tickets to the big game on February 4th, they get Super Bowl LII merchandise and the opportunity to meet Randy Moss.

Windels entered the contest after her mom told her about it. She had to discuss her athletic and academic accomplishments and identify an adult who has supported her reaching those goals. Mr Graham is her track coach, and Windels is the current state champion in the 300 meter hurdles. Windels said, “I wanted to describe how I do well. I want to set a good example for others.”

Randy Moss, MSHSL President David Swanberg, Eric Perkins of KARE 11, and Jostens representative Bruce Locklear read the 75-80 entries received by the November 30 deadline. Windels’ entry stood about because of her description of grit, humility, and patience. “I thought this is one of the most unbelievable entries,” said Locklear.

Moran is happy that the community has embraced the spirit of the Super Bowl. “It’s cool to see how it can impact people’s lives like this and I’m so happy Natalie and Coach Graham get to go,” said Moran.
