Eagan Baseball Looks Ahead

David Goldman, Sports Writer

The Eagan Baseball team looks to improve on its 8-10 record and challenge for a conference tournament and a run at the State Tournament. The Wildcats fell short of the State Tournament last year, losing in the section semifinal to Lakeville North, leaving a sour taste in their mouths and a desire to improve.

The team returns senior standouts Ed Olson, Tyler Godes, TJ Cardenas, and Peter Zibley, who look to lead their team to an improved record. The team has a number of players who will ensure a deep and productive bench. It includes several strong pitchers and players with solid and reliable defensive skills.

About last year’s team and looking forward, Peter Zibley said, “We are going to miss a lot of guys from that team, but we have a lot of guys this year that can step up and help us get the job done.” The boys are excited for the task at hand and are looking forward to a strong season. The first game for the team is on April 4th against Apple Valley at Apple Valley High School.
